Supermarket Savings UK 2026 — Loyalty Cards, Cheapest Supermarkets and How to Cut Your Food Bill

Boots Advantage Card Guide UK 2026: Is It Worth It?

How the Boots Advantage Card works, how many points you earn, what changed in 2023 and 2026, and how it compares with supermarket loyalty cards.

The Boots Advantage Card pays 3 points per £1 spent on products, and each point is worth 1p. That is 3p per £1, or 3% (computed). In Which?’s September 2026 comparison, spending £100 earned £1 on Tesco Clubcard and at least 50p on Nectar. Points are spent on Boots purchases. Here is how the card works.

How Points Accumulate

ItemRateCash value
Standard earn rate3 points per £1 spent in store or online3p per £1 (3%, computed)
Over 60s Club: Boots own-brand and sub-brands such as Soltan and No78 points per £18p per £1 (computed)
Parenting Club: baby products, until your child turns five8 points per £18p per £1 (computed)
Regular double-points offersPersonalised offers, from May 2026Twice the standard rate on the offer items

Boots has said these existing offers remain: three points for every £1 spent, a 10% student discount, and eight points for every £1 spent on Boots own brand for over 60s.

Example (simplified). Spending £50 a month at Boots earns 50 x 3 = 150 points, which is £1.50 a month or £18 a year (150 x 12 = 1,800 points). In a month with a double-points offer on everything bought, the same spend would earn 300 points (£3.00).

What Changed in 2023 and 2026

  • May 2023: Boots cut the standard earn rate from four points per £1 to three.
  • May 2026: members continue to collect three points per £1, but the 10% discount on Boots own-brand items ended. Boots lowered prices on hundreds of products across beauty, wellness and healthcare instead.
  • Personalised offers: from May 2026 Boots said customers would see more personalised offers, including regular double points and price promotions on new and trending premium beauty and skincare brands.

Spending Your Points

Each point is worth 1p to spend on a future purchase. You can save points for as long as you want, and 1,234 points is £12.34 to spend online or in store. Points can be used at any time, as long as you have enough to cover the whole transaction: with 199 points you can buy goods worth £1.99 in total.

Checking the Prices

Points are only one part of the value. Which? analysed member pricing at Boots and Superdrug in January 2026 and found hundreds of promotions that might be considered problematic under the Competition and Markets Authority’s guidance. It reported that 58% of Boots customers in its survey belong to the scheme. Comparing a member price with the price elsewhere is a sensible check before buying.

Who Can Join

You must be aged 13 or over and a UK resident. You do not need an email address, smartphone or computer, and you can sign up at Boots.com or in store.

Limits to Keep in Mind

  • Points are spent on Boots purchases. Which? describes spending them as buying goods at Boots.
  • Boots is not always the cheapest. Check the price of an item elsewhere before assuming the points make up the difference.

Is the Boots Advantage Card Worth It?

How much the card is worth depends on how much you spend at Boots, and on whether Boots is the cheapest place to buy what you need. The standard earn rate is 3p per £1, plus whatever personalised offers you are sent.
